Princess Poppy

I'll admit, Trolls was a pretty cute movie. I loved the music and the bright colors. This was a fun cake to do. I'm still learning the art of the cupcake cake, but I think it went okay for my first time.

Pokemon

How do you get Pikachu on the bus? You Pokemon! Why don't you let Pokemon in the bathroom? He will Pikachu! That's the extent of my Pokemon knowledge. I didn't even know Pokemon was a thing again, but it is, and I have a nephew who is obsessed. If you ever meet him, he might ask you your favorite Pokemon and he KNOWS if you make a name up, because he knows all their names.

I don't want to TACO bout it

The poor ladies of book club. They have to listen to me tell strange things about myself (it just slips out). On a few occasions I've mentioned my Taco costume. I decided to bring it to book club one week and had to bring a cake to sweeten the awkwardness up.

Hawaii

Our friends moved to Hawaii, so to celebrate their last day Daniel suggested Hawaiian cupcakes. Holy moly- I didn't know I had a secret love for coconut and pineapple, but I DO!!!

Total Eclipse of the Heart

Did anyone else have that song stuck in their head the entire buildup to the great Eclipse? We had family come into town and they suggested I make a cake, so of course it had to be an eclipse.

Tractor

This was for a 90th birthday. Isn't that a hoot? He owned a backhoe company if I remember correctly.

Shark

I have a slight obsession with sharks (I normally don't bring that up in everyday conversations because people think it's odd for a grown woman to love sharks so much!) However, I was slightly heartbroken that this cake fell on a crazy week. There were so many ideas that I wanted to try, but had to go with this idea that I saw on Pinterest awhile back and fell in love with. Still like how it turned out, but I hope I can do a fun, more intense shark cake later on.

ABC Success

I was so lucky and got to work with a nephew all summer. He needed some extra help with reading, so we would get together once a week throughout the summer and work on the alphabet and reading. We decided that at the end of the summer when he learned all this letters and sounds we would make ABC cookies. He came back the next week with a proposition. An alphabet cake! He was so excited about it and would talk about it every week when he came over. He would draw sketches each time. Well, he did it. He learned his letters and sounds. Once we started he decided he wanted to write something out... Here is the creations!!!

School Days

This was a fun cake that was for two teachers whose birthdays are close together.

Puppy

When you have a nephew who looks at pictures of puppies on Google you've got to make a puppy cake :)

Books

I'm grateful for the practice I get with cakes... I LOVE to do cakes. It relaxes me, makes me happy, helps my creative juices start to flow... but sometimes it doesn't work out how I envisions. This was one of them. To make the cake even worse, minutes before my friend came to pick it up Adelyn climbed onto the chair (which I didn't know she could do), pulled the cake box, opened it and stuck her hand it in.
